Scotways Route 159X
This is
an infrequently walked route which follows a trail from the village of Inverey
(mouth of the Ey) through Glen Ey, and eventually finishes at Dalmunzie Hotel near the Spittal of
Glenshee. After following a land-rover track to the ruined Altanour Lodge
there is some rough walking while we pass beneath several Munros; Carn Bhac, Beinn Lutharn Mor,
An Socach, Glas Tulaichean, and Carn an Righ, and past Loch nan Eun. From
here we walk alongside some scenic waterfalls until we pick up another land-rover track in Gleann Taitneach which we follow to Dalmunzie. We will not be ascending
any of these high hills unless we plan an overnight stay in the wild. If this
is combined with the Lairig Ghru trip
it can
make a very good 3 or even 4 day expedition similar in scope to a Duke of
Edinburgh Gold expedition. Near Loch nan Eun we almost reach 800m above
sea level! There is a substantial amount of rough
walking on this route.
