This
low level interesting walk starts from the hamlet of Butterstone, home of a
famous girl's school. It follows farm roads and tracks up onto the moss or
moor south west of Benachally Hill. Along the way the route follows
several ancient hut circle and later farmstead remains and passes what are shown
on the map as Buzzart Dykes. These are considered to be middle age hunting
enclosures, though little evidence of this was written down. A cup marked
stone can be seen nearby. The route then follows the Cateran Trail through
Gormack and over 'The Knockie' or Cnoc ma Har and down into Blairgowrie.
Cnoc is a gaelic word pronounced 'crock' meaning rounded hill or knoll.
